Senators: Benghazi attack 'likely preventable'

The September 2012 attack that killed four Americans at a diplomatic compound in Libya was "likely preventable" based on known security shortfalls there and prior warnings that the security situation in that country was deteriorating, the majority of the Senate Intelligence Committee concluded in a report released Wednesday.

$18M settlement for RNC arrests lawsuits in NYC

New York City has agreed to pay $18 million to settle dozens of lawsuits filed by protesters, journalists and bystanders who said they were wrongly arrested at the 2004 Republican National Convention and held for hours in makeshift holding cells, lawyers said Wednesday.

AG to name outside counsel for same-sex marriage appeal

The attorney general's office is expected to name a law firm Thursday to handle Utah's appeal of a court ruling that struck down the state's ban on same-sex marriage.
