Federal regulators are proposing automakers install event data recorders _ better known as "black boxes" _ in most new cars and trucks despite privacy concerns.

Michigan is on the verge of becoming the 24th state with a right-to-work law, which would prohibit requiring workers to join a union or pay fees that are equivalent to union dues as a condition of employment. Here's a list of the 23 states that already have such a law:
Clarification: Cancer Funding-Texas story

In a story Dec. 5, The Associated Press reported that ongoing troubles with the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas began in May with a $20 million award that was insufficiently reviewed. The story should have made clear that although the state agency has acknowledged making missteps in its awarding of the grant, at that time its rules did not require that type of proposal to be subjected to a scientific peer review.
