WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Authorities in Utah are accusing a 26-year-old man who they say stole a car with two children inside last week with trying run over police officers with another stolen vehicle during a separate high-speed weekend chase.

West Valley City police Lt. Robert Hamilton tells KSL-TV (http://bit.ly/2iD2MZq ) that Tyler Allen Williams was arrested Saturday after the vehicle he was driving crashed into two other vehicles and he allegedly tried to take yet another car with a woman inside.

Hamilton says officers and people in the vehicles involved in the crash escaped serious injury.

Layton police Lt. Travis Lyman says Williams fled from Layton police Friday and stole a car with an infant and a 3-year-old inside.

Lyman says he escaped after leaving the children unharmed at a nearby department store.
