SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A car crash in Cache County has left a 3-month-old boy dead and his mother critically injured.

Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Lawrence Hopper says 26-year-old Norma Barriga, of Logan, remained in critical condition Saturday.

Her son, Andy Barriga, was pronounced dead at a hospital a day earlier.

According to Utah Highway Patrol officials, Barriga was traveling north on State Road 165 in Providence on Thursday when she made a left turn in the path of an oncoming pickup truck.

The truck struck Barriga's car, pushing it into the intersection.

Barriga and her baby were airlifted to separate hospitals.

The 23-year-old pregnant woman driving the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

UHP officials say the crash investigation remains ongoing.
