LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Latest on the kidnapping of three children whose mother was killed in Southern California (all times local):

3:30 p.m.

Three young children kidnapped after their mother was killed in Southern California have been found safe in New Mexico.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says the couple suspected of kidnapping the children left them with a good Samaritan who notified authorities.

The children, between 2 and 5, were found safe in a motel on the outskirts of Albuquerque.

The department says the couple, 27-year-old Joshua Aaron Robertson and 22-year-old Brittany Humphrey, are still on the run and are believed to be heading east of New Mexico.

Lt. Joe Mendoza says Humphrey is the half-sister of the children's dead mother, Kimberly Harvill.

Harvill's body was found Aug. 14 with multiple gunshot wounds along a road in a remote area of Los Angeles County. She was identified four days later.

Humphrey and Robertson are considered persons of interest in her killing.
