MONMOUTH, Maine (AP) — Police say a Maine woman was bitten by a rabid fox while she was sitting on her porch.
Monmouth police Chief Kevin Mulherin says the woman was attacked on Tuesday night. She was treated at the hospital and released.
Mulherin says a neighbor killed the fox shortly after it bit the woman. Its body was taken to a state laboratory where it tested positive for rabies.
Mulherin says the woman is taking the appropriate medication. She wasn't identified.
