MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) — Authorities in South Carolina say the bodies of two men have been recovered after eight people were tossed into Lake Moultrie in a weekend accident.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said in a news release that the bodies were recovered Monday.

Capt. Robert McCullough of the state Department of Natural Resources says the people were tossed into the water when the boat they were in made a sharp turn about 8 p.m. Saturday. Six people were rescued by a second vessel.

Searchers including divers and helicopters searched Sunday for the missing men. Salisbury said the bodies of 51-year-old Jake Williams and 46-year-old Nathaniel Hawkins were found Monday after the search resumed. The coroner says both men drowned.

The boat captain is charged with boating under the influence.
