LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Latest on the closure of the Hoover Dam bypass bridge during a woman's threat to jump (all times local):

1:45 p.m.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says a trooper was seriously injured when he was hit by a tour bus that was backing up in a 5-hour traffic jam created when a woman threatened to jump from the Hoover Dam bypass bridge.

Trooper Jason Buratczuk (bur-AH'-chek) said Tuesday the injured officer was hospitalized with head injuries after the incident a little before 10 a.m. on State Highway 172.

That's the winding road to Hoover Dam from U.S. 93 in Nevada.

The former U.S. 93 route to the dam on the Arizona side is no longer open.

The name of the injured trooper wasn't immediately made public.

Buratczuk says the driver of the tour bus was questioned, but it wasn't immediately clear if any citations were issued.

A woman who threatened to jump from the Hoover Dam bypass bridge is in police custody, and U.S. Highway 93 has reopened between Arizona and Nevada.

Las Vegas police say the woman surrendered to police a little before 11 a.m. Tuesday, and was being taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.

The woman hasn't been identified.

The bridge and pedestrian walkway were closed about 6 a.m., and officials issued an advisory for motorists to use alternate routes.

The Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge is a key point in the trip between Las Vegas and Phoenix.

U.S. Highway 93 remains closed between Arizona and Nevada while police try to talk a woman out of jumping from the Hoover Dam bypass bridge to the Colorado River below.

Las Vegas police Officer Laura Meltzer says authorities are willing to take as much time as necessary to prevent a death.

The woman hasn't been identified.

The bridge and pedestrian walkway were closed about 6 a.m. Tuesday, and officials have issued an advisory for motorists to use alternate routes.

The Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge is a key point in the trip between Las Vegas and Phoenix.

U.S. 95 and Nevada Highway 163 and Arizona Highway 68 offer a detour through Bullhead City, Arizona, and Laughlin, Nevada.

Authorities say the Hoover Dam bypass bridge has been closed while police try to talk a woman out of jumping to the Colorado River below.

Las Vegas police Officer Laura Meltzer says the roadway and pedestrian walkway were closed about 6 a.m. Tuesday to allow counselors to talk with the woman.

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada issued an advisory for motorists to use alternate routes.

The Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge carries U.S. 93 over the river between Nevada and Arizona.
