ST. LOUIS (AP) — A women's basketball player is dropping her lawsuit against Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, but will pursue a complaint with the Missouri Commission on Human Rights.
Brittany Jackson filed suit earlier this month, saying she was wrongly accused of drug possession and suspended for a year after denying a dean's sexual advances.
Her lawyer told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/29hBHIk ) on Monday that Jackson withdrew the suit because it is proper to first pursue a discrimination charge with the state commission.
The university has called the accusation unfounded.
Jackson alleges that a dean groped her during a meeting in his office on March 28. She says that after she complained, she was accused of marijuana possession.
