BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A series of campaign contributions made by an embattled Idaho Republican Party official has caught the eye of the secretary of state's office.
Chief Deputy Secretary of State Tim Hurst tells The Spokesman-Review (http://bit.ly/23vpoLQ ) that his office is looking into various $1,000 contributions that Bonneville County GOP Chairman Doyle Beck gave to legislative candidate M.C. "Chick" Heileson.
According to campaign finance reports, several companies owned by Beck gave $1,000 donations to Heileson's campaign.
Idaho's Sunshine Law restricts donors from giving more than $1,000 to legislative candidates during primary or general elections, including prohibiting aggregated contributions.
The Idaho attorney general has recently charged both Beck and Heileson with hiding the source of a $12,000 campaign contribution to a highly scrutinized political action committee.
