WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington subway officials say they've resumed service on a section shared by three lines where smoke appeared in a station.
Metro said in a statement Friday that service has been restored from Eastern Market to Federal Center SW after it was suspended Thursday afternoon. Metro says new third-rail equipment was installed at the Federal Center SW station overnight.
That section serves the orange, blue and silver lines, and includes the Capitol South station, which was also closed. Both stations that were closed have now reopened.
Meanwhile, Metro said in a tweet Friday morning that trains are bypassing the Van Ness-UDC station on the red line because of a power outage. Metro says shuttle bus service has been requested.
