LAS VEGAS (AP) — A University of Nevada, Las Vegas, law professor has been nominated by President Barack Obama for a judgeship on the U.S. District Court in Nevada.
The White House said Thursday that the Senate is being asked to approve Anne Rachel Traum.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Harry Reid says he recommended Traum for the nomination.
Traum would replace Judge Robert Clive Jones, who recently shifted to senior status on the Reno bench.
Traum is currently on leave from the William S. Boyd School of Law, while serving as special counsel in the U.S. Justice Department Office for Access to Justice.
She didn't immediately respond to a message.
She's a former assistant federal public defender in Las Vegas, and a graduate of Brown University and the University of California, Hastings College of Law.
