PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (AP) — A Long Island substitute teacher has been accused of sexually abusing two girls in his classroom.
Police say James Servin was arrested Thursday. He's to be arraigned Friday in Hempstead on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, forcible touching and sexual abuse.
Police Chief James Salerno says it allegedly happened last month at Carrie Palmer Weber Middle School in the Nassau County hamlet of Port Washington.
Salerno says an investigation began after one of the girl's parents made a complaint last month.
Superintendent Kathleen Mooney says students have complained about a substitute teacher at the middle school.
She says the district is cooperating in the investigation.
Servin's relatives couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
It wasn't clear if Servin had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
