TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Tampa Bay area teen was arrested after another student reported that he was loading a handgun on a school bus.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports that the student had texted a relative about the gun Wednesday morning while heading to Brandon Alternative School, and the relative called 911.
Deputies pulled over the bus and evacuated seven students. They reported finding a stolen 9mm pistol, a magazine loaded with 12 rounds and a black ski mask.
An 18-year-old student was arrested based on a description in the earlier texts. He's facing two weapons charges and a marijuana possession charge.
