RENO, Nev. (AP) — Firefighters are investigating five Reno-area fires that sparked over the weekend, leaving at least nine people and a dog displaced and injuring two firefighters.
Crews responded to two fires Sunday, one at the Hyatt hotel near the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and the other at an abandoned home. The Hyatt was evacuated and no injuries were reported.
Hours later, crews responded to another fire at an abandoned home, which Battalion Chief Bob Leighton says is believed to have been caused by arson. One firefighter suffered minor injuries.
The first blaze of the weekend occurred Friday at the Peppermill Hotel Casino. An apartment and a house also caught fire on Friday.
