ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Student leaders at Ithaca College are expected to release the results of a no confidence vote in President Tom Rochon.
The Student Government Association initiated the symbolic vote following campus protests over the racial climate on campus.
Results of student voting are expected to be made public Monday evening.
Ithaca is among several college campuses that saw demonstrations in the wake of protests at the University of Missouri over the administration's handling of racial issues and subsequent leadership resignations.
Rochon wrote in an opinion piece in the Chronicle of Higher Education on Nov. 16 that embattled leaders should be stepping up not stepping down.
He says the current wave of student activism is creating an opportunity for discussions that can lead to more inclusive campus environments.
