SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The prosecutor on the pay-to-play case against former Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff says that federal investigators are planning to hand over their information on the case.
Davis County prosecutor Troy Rawlings filed court documents late Wednesday asking a judge to postpone a hearing set for Dec. 1 to give lawyers on both sides time to examine the evidence.
State prosecutors have been fighting with their federal counterparts to get evidence from a 2013 investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office and Department of Justice.
It was closed their probe without filing charges, but state prosecutors later filed their own case.
Shurtleff has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he accepted improper gifts like as beach vacations from businessmen in trouble with regulators.
He served as Utah's top law enforcement officer for 12 years.
