BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) — A defense attorney wants a psychological evaluation for a Perry man accused of beating his 95-year-old adoptive father.
The Standard-Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/1MU0Ioz) public defender Bernie Allen requested the psychological review earlier this month to determine whether his 21-year-old client understands the criminal proceedings.
Deputy Box Elder County Attorney Brian Duncan, a prosecutor in the case, did not object to the psychological evaluation. He says the defendant's name change from Christian Nicholas Bunderson to Color Og ArtsnCrafts Bunderson in April raises questions but doesn't alone justify a psychological evaluation.
Prosecutors say Bunderson used his hands and feet to beat his adoptive father, who was found with a broken leg, bumps and bruises, and gashes to his face, head, arms, legs and torso.
A hearing is set for Dec. 14.
