RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after an officer shot and killed a suspect during a disturbance in a south Reno neighborhood.
Washoe County Sheriff's Office Lt. Tom Green says two officers are on leave after shooting 45-year-old Mathew Grows on Sunday. Police believe that Grows shot two of his neighbors after arguing with them.
Both neighbors are currently hospitalized.
Green says witnesses believe Grows was about to enter a house to kill a 14-year-old and 2-year-old before police shot him.
Police are also investigating a fire that broke out at a multi-family building during the shooting. The suspect and both victims lived there and the fire started in Grows' garage.
According to Green, Grows' autopsy will include a toxicology report, but will take several weeks to get back.
