MILTON, Vt. (AP) — The Milton, Vermont, school board has voted to appoint a retired Massachusetts school administrator to serve as temporary interim superintendent as it determines how to deal with a report critical of the district's handling of hazing rituals by a high school football team.
The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/1OXPJzm ) negotiations underway with Ann Bradshaw to fill the spot while Superintendent John Barone remains on administrative leave in the wake of the hazing scandal.
The board says the East Falmouth, Massachusetts, woman is the best choice because of her extensive public school administrative experience. She was a superintendent for eight years.
She says she's excited to join the school.
Barone was placed on administrative leave after a months-long investigation showed five employees failed to follow district policies about hazing and bullying.
