OREM, Utah (AP) — A woman was killed and her husband critically injured after both were hit by a car while riding their bicycles in Orem.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1L8fZQH) that 51-year-old Stacy Bown died Saturday night after being taken to a hospital.

Orem police say 55-year-old Kevin Bown remains in critical condition.

Police spokesman Craig Martinez says both were crossing the street when a car ran a red light and collided with both.

Martinez says the 26-year-old driver cooperated with investigators.

Police believe the driver may have been distracted. It was not known if the driver will face charges.

Martinez says the Bowns were wearing helmets and were only a few blocks from their home.
