CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) — Fort Carson says two soldiers injured when their Black Hawk helicopter landed hard in a suburban Denver forest in Douglas County remain hospitalized and in stable condition.
The military installation in Colorado Springs says investigators from the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center in Alabama's Fort Rucker is deploying to Fort Carson to lead the review of the accident. It happened at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Forest Service land during a routine training mission. Four soldiers were in the helicopter.
Fort Carson says the accident site has been secured and the helicopter will not be moved until the investigation is complete.
The soldiers involved in the training mission are part of Fort Carson's 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division.
