DANVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Officials say a Utah man has been charged with felony vandalism for defacing a war memorial in Northern California.

Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins said in a statement Wednesday that 18-year-old Jared Vance of Provo, Utah has been charged but not arrested in connection with the June 8 vandalism at the All Wars Memorial.

The Contra Costa Times reports (http://bayareane.ws/1KsRiV0) the case is now in the hands of the Contra Costa District Attorney's office.

Police say suspects spray painted graffiti on the pavement, stone paths and granite benches near the memorial, which is dedicated to everybody who served in American wars.
