ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a man suspected in the 1991 death of his former girlfriend in North Carolina was arrested in suburban Atlanta.

Media outlets report that U.S. Marshalls captured Rodney Cooke in connection with the death of Adrian Sauls 24 years ago. WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1KTuQi5 ) Cooke was arrested at a home Tuesday after authorities received a tip that he was living in Alpharetta, Georgia.

North Carolina police say Cooke was Sauls' live-in boyfriend and that he shot her.

Alpharetta Police spokesman George Gordon said authorities in Wilson, North Carolina, initially arrested the wrong man for the crime and later took out warrants for Cooke in the murder.

Wilson police said Cooke assumed many aliases and had a criminal record under some fake names, making it hard to track him down.
