SEQUIM, Wash. (AP) — Law enforcement officials have seized nearly all he animals from a rural property in Sequim after an apparently healthy pig died.
The Peninsula Daily News reports (http://is.gd/uFAIiE ) that the animals owner, John Dashti, says the pig was poisoned by those who don't want him living on the property, but officials say they took the critters because of parasites, malnourishment, lack of basic care and unsanitary conditions.
Two pigs, a dog, 12 rabbits, chickens and about 60 quail were seized Monday from Dashti's property after the pig died. Last week, law enforcement officials seized four goats, two donkeys and two sheep after a veterinarian found they needed care. Several chickens and roosters remain at the property because they eluded capture.
Dashti has not been arrested and no citations have been issued.
