JENNINGS, La. (AP) — A former Elton High School teacher and coach has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) 35-year-old Justin Joseph Fruge (froo-JHAY') was arrested earlier this year on six counts of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and student; four counts of molestation; and one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile. He pleaded guilty Monday to the lesser charge after the victim's parents asked that the charges be reduced to carnal knowledge.
Fruge faces up to 10 years in prison. Sentencing will be July 20. He remains in the Jefferson Davis Parish jail on $145,000 bond.
The sheriff's office began investigating Fruge in January after hearing allegations from school officials about inappropriate behavior involving current and former students.
