LOS ANGELES (AP) — The man accused of driving a souped-up Mustang that killed two spectators during a Los Angeles street race has been charged with two counts of murder.
Prosecutors say 21-year-old Henry Gevorgyan was charged Tuesday.
Authorities say his Ford Mustang went out of control during an illegal race Feb. 25 in the Chatsworth section of the San Fernando Valley.
The car veered right and crashed into a crowd on the sidewalk. Twenty-six-year-old Eric Siguenza and 50-year-old Wilson Thomas Wong died, and a third man was seriously injured.
The driver fled, but Gevorgyan turned himself in Saturday night and remains jailed with bail set at $2 million.
He could face 33 years to life in prison if convicted.
