CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — A high school mathematics teacher in western Maryland has pleaded guilty to sex offenses involving two female students.
Forty-three-year-old Bart Mazer of Frostburg entered the pleas Tuesday in Allegany County Circuit Court in Cumberland. He pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree sex offense.
Prosecutors agreed to drop another count of fourth-degree sex offense in one of the cases, involving a 17-year-old girl. In the other case, involving a 15-year-old victim, they agreed to reduce the charge from third-degree to fourth-degree sex offense.
Mazer faces the possibility of two years in prison and a $2,000 fine at his sentencing, which hasn't been scheduled.
Police say all the incidents occurred in Mazer's home.
Mazer remains suspended without pay from his job at Mountain Ridge High School in Frostburg.
