FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — A Farmington man is accused of stabbing his girlfriend in the neck after learning she was pregnant.
The Farmington Daily Times reports (http://bit.ly/1E4L8WR) that 26-year-old Kyle Desoto was charged Wednesday in Farmington Magistrate Court with battering a household member with a deadly weapon.
According to court records, Desoto is being held on $75,000 bond.
Police say Desoto called 911 Tuesday and initially told officers that two Native American men, one a marijuana dealer, attacked his girlfriend after forcing their way into his home.
But the victim, who was treated for non-life-threatening wounds, told police Desoto started "freaking out" when he learned she was pregnant. She says the suspect accused her of infidelity before stabbing her.
He is expected in court next week.
