HOUSTON (AP) — Authorities say a 16-year-old Houston boy has died after falling and hitting his head during a gym class basketball game.
Officials with the Aldine (AHL'-deen) Independent School District say the boy attended Eisenhower Ninth Grade School. His name wasn't immediately released.
Assistant Superintendent Ken Knippel says the boy was in physical education class on Thursday when he fell and struck the back of his head. The teen died later at a hospital.
District officials say counselors are available to students and staff following the accidental death.
