RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2010 killing of his four-month-old son.
Washoe District Judge Jerry Polaha said at Thursday's sentencing that 23-year-old Paul Revell will be eligible for parole in 20 years.
Revell was convicted of first-degree murder in November in the death of his son at a motel where they were living in downtown Reno.
Revell told police he had left the boy alone to use the bathroom for about 30 seconds and heard him fall off the bed and hit his head.
But doctors testified during a three-week trial those comments were inconsistent with the injuries, which they concluded were caused by "inflicted trauma." They said CAT scans revealed both new and old brain hemorrhages.
