OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — The University of Mississippi has hired former newspaper executive Billy Crews as its new development officer in the School of Education.
Ole Miss officials say in a news release that Crews will head fundraising efforts from within the school in collaboration with the UM Foundation.
Crews, an Oxford native, is the former publisher of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo. He retired in 2010.
Crews spent more than two years working for Teach for America's Mississippi region, where he served as vice president for strategic partnerships. He is a former member of the board of trustees for the Tupelo Public School District.
Crews received a bachelor's degree in political science in 1978 from Ole Miss.
