LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Las Vegas-area teacher with cerebral palsy is suing the Clark County School District, alleging that he was discriminated against because of his disability.
David Richter seeks more than $50,000 in damages in a lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas.
Spokeswoman Melinda Malone tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal (http://bit.ly/1vlMaIO ) the district doesn't comment on lawsuits.
Richter says he was hired in August 2013 as an intermediate autism teacher.
He says he was injured by students at least nine times, and asked for an assistant to help maintain control the classroom.
The lawsuit says Richter resigned after receiving a five-day suspension in January for failing to properly restrain a student.
He says he was treated differently than others, and resigned because he feared he'd be fired.
