COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) — Indiana's first hospice is planning to expand its services to patients who aren't terminally ill.
Our Hospice of South Central Indiana plans to collaborate with family physicians to tend to patients' physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
President Laura Hurt tells The Republic (http://bit.ly/1uLH48r ) that the Columbus-based nonprofit will partner with physicians of patients with cardiac and chronic pulmonary conditions to address symptoms and treatments.
A goal of the program is to reduce emergency room visits by addressing patients' needs before they become a crisis.
The program is expected to see 260 patients in 2015.
