LAS VEGAS (AP) — The ridesharing company Uber plans to launch in Las Vegas, Reno and Carson City this afternoon. Uber spokeswoman Eva Behrend says hundreds of drivers in the state are already signed up and passed background checks and vehicle inspections that clear them to respond to requests for rides via smartphone.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — In the first five days of early voting, Democrats trailed Republicans by nearly 12,000 votes among the nearly 118,000 ballots cast through absentee or in-person early voting. The Nevada Secretary of State's Office says comes even though the state has more registered Democrats than Republicans. Nevada lacks a competitive governor's race, a Senate race or a presidential contest this year.

LAUGHLIN, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a suspended Bullhead City, Arizona, police officer has been arrested in Laughlin, accused of attacking a woman in a vehicle outside a bar. Bullhead City police say Jesse Hoag has been on paid leave since Oct. 3 when he was arrested on an attempted sexual assault charge in Kingman.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say one man is dead, a second man is injured and a third man is in jail after a fight in downtown Reno last night. Police say three men were in a fight that involved a knife, and two of the men involved were seriously injured. Both were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center, where one was treated and released and one man died.
