NEW YORK (AP) — Harlem neighbors of a doctor diagnosed as New York City's first Ebola patient are expressing concern for him.
Joyce Harrison says she has sympathy for Dr. Craig Spencer and his family. She hopes "they can nip this in the butt."
Juan Sanchez, who lives near Spencer's building, says he's not worried but would be if the disease spreads.
He says the first time he saw the doctor was on television when news of his diagnosis broke.
Spencer is a member of Doctors Without Borders. He reported coming down with a 103-degree fever and diarrhea on Thursday. He's in an isolation ward at Manhattan's Bellevue Hospital, a designated Ebola center.
Neighbor Jose Gomez says his congregation at the Meeting With God Church is praying that Ebola doesn't spread.
