HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — A Henderson 19-year-old faces arson, reckless disregard and mayhem charges that could get him decades in prison if he's convicted of exploding a 55-gallon drum of diesel in a high school graduation party bonfire.
A 15-count indictment filed Wednesday against Michael Brandon Boyd Jr. alleges that he willfully injured others when the fuel barrel blew up late June 9 in a remote desert area after commencement at Basic High School.
Boyd was arrested Aug. 27 and is being held on $37,000 bail at the Henderson City Jail.
He's due for arraignment Sept. 24 in Clark County District Court.
Defense attorney Craig Mueller says he doesn't think prosecutors have the full story.
He says Boyd will plead not guilty.
Authorities say several of the injured are recovering from severe burns.
