BENSALEM, Pa. (AP) — The faculty adviser for a student newspaper embroiled in a battle over the word "Redskins" has been suspended for two days without pay.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1u91chG ) Neshaminy High School teacher Tara Huber was disciplined for "willful neglect of duty and insubordination."
The suspension came three months after students published the June edition, in which they disobeyed an order by administrators to print an op-ed containing the word "Redskin."
"Redskins" is the nickname of Neshaminy's sports teams. Newspaper staff at the Bensalem school decided last year they would no longer use the term, which they say is offensive.
The paper, called The Playwickian, is also having $1,200 docked from its funds.
Huber was not at school Tuesday or Wednesday. She and district officials declined to comment.
