BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. (AP) — Police say the suspect in last week's fatal ambush outside a rural state police barracks belonged to a "military simulation unit" based in eastern Pennsylvania whose members play the role of soldiers from eastern Europe.
Lt. Col. George Bivens says 31-year-old Eric Frein (freen) "appears to have assumed that role in real life."
Hundreds of law enforcement officials are looking for Frein. He is charged with killing one trooper and injuring another outside the Blooming Grove barracks in northeastern Pennsylvania late Friday.
State police call Frein a survivalist who's armed and very dangerous. Bivens also says Frein has shaved his head in a Mohawk style.
