NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A longtime member of the Newark police force has died after he had a heart attack while on duty.
Officials say 47-year-old Newark Police Officer Reinaldo Arocha Jr. was stricken around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Further details were not disclosed.
Arocha served on the force for 23 years. He was assigned to the fourth precinct.
