SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Police say nobody was hurt but at least five vehicles were damaged when a man fired about 100 rounds from a Motel 6 in Sparks.

Authorities say a 15-minute barrage of gunfire began at about 4 a.m. on Thursday, when the suspect started firing into the parking lot from inside and outside of a second-story room.

Police say the man ignored their commands and pointed a rifle at officers who came up to the second floor. An officer fired one round at the suspect, but didn't hit him, and he soon came outside and surrendered.

The man was taken to the hospital for minor cuts from broken glass.

He's been identified as 34-year-old Carson City resident Luis Alberto Machado.

Police say they found drugs and three firearms in the room.
