LAS VEGAS (AP) — Hundreds of people rallied outside the federal courthouse in Las Vegas to show support for Israel as a conflict with Hamas rages.

The Israeli-American Council Las Vegas organized the "We Stand With Israel" demonstration Tuesday evening at the Lloyd D. George Federal Building downtown.

Demonstrators waved Israeli flags and wore T-shirts saying "Las Vegas Stands With Israel." At least one man was seen waving a Palestinian flag across the street from the rally.

Palestinian militants have fired more than 2,000 rockets toward Israel since fighting began on July 8, while Israel has responded with airstrikes and a ground war on Gaza. Dozens of Israelis and hundreds of Palestinians have died in the conflict.

The Israeli-American Council's website describes the group's mission as reinforcing support for Israel.
