LOS ANGELES (AP) — Officials say more than 30 firefighters battled a blaze that significantly damaged a single-story charter high school in the Los Angeles area.

LA County Fire inspector Scott Miller said two firefighters were hospitalized Tuesday after fighting the fire at Animo High School in Inglewood.

Miller says the blaze has been contained and the department is investigating the cause of the fire and extent of the damage. He says the majority of the roof is destroyed as well as a facade and exterior wall.

Firefighters say they received a call at 2:21 p.m. saying smoke and fire was showing through the roof of the school. Miller says a construction crew was working at the school and they are investigating if that caused the fire.

Miller says the firefighters are expected to make a full recovery.
