CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Not everyone is taking the summer off at the College of Charleston.
Workers are busy renovating the college's Addlestone Library before students return for classes next month.
When finished, the library will have more study spaces as 200 seats are added to the current 1,200. The library also will be home to the rare materials collection of the South Carolina Historical Society.
Other changes include moving the entire book collection to the second floor of the three-story building and a adding new Starbuck's coffee shop.
It will also be easier to power up laptops and phones at more than 100 electric outlets scattered through the library.
Once work is done, staffers will have to put the library's more than 750,000 books on new shelves.
