TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) — A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder in the death of a 59-year-old Taylorsville woman.
Police say 18-year-old Bryan Quintanilla was three hours away from boarding a flight to El Salvador before he was arrested Saturday morning in the death of Margaret Steffey. He has family ties to El Salvador.
Quintanilla is accused of suffocating Steffey and stealing an ATM card from her to buy various items.
Steffley was found dead in her home Wednesday when officials were called to check on her. Police say she lived alone, and there was no sign of a forced entry into her home.
According to a booking report, Quintanilla admitted using Steffey's bank card but denied ever being inside her home.
