BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior is expected to visit the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise on Tuesday.

Mike Connor will meet with leaders of the federal interagency fire team to get an update on current wildfires, the cost of fighting wild land fires and the changing climate.

Connor is also expected to push President Barack Obama's budget proposal for next year, which would budget fire suppression costs the same way that other natural disaster responses are budgeted.

Connor will be at the fire center Tuesday afternoon; he's expected to meet with members of the press at 1 p.m.
