CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Crews have reported progress on a western Nevada wildfire. Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center spokeswoman Elizabeth Kenna said yesterday the Clear Creek Fire southwest of Carson City was 75 percent contained, with full containment expected by this afternoon. She says the lightning-sparked fire has charred less than a square mile, or 187 acres, along the south side of U.S. 50.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas post office is reopening two weeks after a two-alarm fire that started in a rooftop Port-a-Potty damaged the building. Postal officials say the retail portion of the post office was scheduled to reopen today. Customers have been using a mobile unit parked at the facility to buy stamps and conduct other business. It's unclear exactly how the fire started.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Five people have been indicted in the embezzlement of nearly $300,000 from the Clark County School District's Adult English Language Acquisition program. The 52-count indictment handed up yesterday accuses program director Priscilla Rocha of falsifying time cards and directing the money to co-defendants for personal use.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge in Las Vegas has ordered a state youth facility in Elko to return boys being held under Clark County authority. Clark County Family Court Judge William Voy responded to complaints about how staff members use restraints at the Nevada Youth Training Center. Deputy public defender Susan Roske says the judge heard that detainee wrist and ankle shackles were linked. Roske says it appeared the practice was used as punishment.
