ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia State University officials say the school has appointed its first chief innovation officer.
In a statement, GSU officials said former vice president for innovation and new product development at NCR Corporation, Phil Ventimiglia, has been tapped to serve in the position. Officials say Ventimiglia will direct the school's information systems and technology department and explore new ideas for academic programs.
GSU Vice President for research and economic development James Weyhenmeyer says officials expect Ventimiglia's role to help Georgia State become a top urban research university.
Ventimiglia earned a master's of business administration from Yale and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut.
