In a story April 16 about bird flu, The Associated Press reported erroneously that recent outbreaks had led to the death of more than 2.5 million turkeys and chickens. The correct figure at the time was more than 2.4 million, and not all the birds slated to be euthanized had been.

Limited testing has been successful today in Nevada for the troubled Common Core assessments, but now the state is offering school districts an out. Officials say a state law allows schools to document its attempts to take the tests to count as participating in the assessments. The technical problems began Tuesday for Nevada and two other states that use the Measured Progress system to administer the tests. The little-known Nevada statute has been used at the local level, but officials say this is the first time it will be applied statewide.
