GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — Gillette officials have passed a resolution affirming the rights and protection of city employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
The resolution has no legal effect and only clarifies the city's personnel policies.
Councilman Robin Kuntz voted against it on a 6-1 vote. The councilman has said he doesn't feel it is the council's responsibility to make decisions that the U.S. Congress or state have not made yet.
According to the Gillette News Record (http://bit.ly/2d5IHMC ), gay groups are welcoming the resolution, saying it is a step in the right direction.
